About

Steve Silverstein, the Founder of Not Your Average Joe’s and Servedwell Hospitality, is thrilled to open The Whale’s Tail Clam Bar.

Steve grew up in New Bedford and worked on scallopers during high school and college summers, where he fell in love with the fishing industry, its people and its heritage. When Steve decided to focus on his New Bedford restaurants, he knew there had to be a Clam Bar in the mix. 

The vision for the Whale’s Tail is an old school “clam bar”:  a “shack” serving fresh, locally caught seafood in a casual, beachy environment. It’s a place that is fun and cool, where locals can gather and get a taste for the fishing industry. 

Equally exciting, Steve’s son, Will, the 5th generation of Silversteins in business in New Bedford, is the manager of The Whale’s Tail. Will, like his dad, fell in love with both restaurants and fishing. If this place doesn’t run like a top, be sure to reach out to Will (everyone@whalestailnb.com) and share with him all of your thoughts. Steve’s around too, (steve@servedwellhospitality.com), but good chance he’s gone fishing.
